PaneraTech was recently highlighted on the U.S. Department of Commerce website home page. The development of our material characterization products, IMECSLab and IMECSFab, was cited as a successful example of public-private collaboration through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The article was written by Paul R. Zielinski, NIST Chair and Director of the Technology Partnerships Office.
The mission of the Commerce Department is “to create the conditions for economic growth and opportunity” in four areas: trade and investment, innovation, environment, and data. Mr. Zielinski emphasized the importance of innovation to our economy and explained the important role of NIST in advancing new technology through industry collaboration and funding.
As NIST is seeking new applicants to its Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR), he explained the two-phase grant program that helps fuel research in advanced technology, specifically finding “Wow!” ideas. Only three actual projects were mentioned as examples of successful SBIR advancements. We are honored to have our project listed as one of those three examples. Mr. Zielinski described the technology behind IMECSLab and IMECSFab as “a real-time quality control testing and live feedback system for making thin-films that promises to improve yield and lower cost for the nanomaterials and touch sensor industry.”
We are proud to partner with NIST to develop visionary solutions that help to support the mission of economic growth.
